What classes do we race?

John Grant International Raceway

1:10th 200mm Nitro Tourer
The pro tourer features a four wheel drive chassis powered by a 2.1cc engine capable of 45,000rpm. Engine power is transmitted via a clutch through a 2 speed gearbox and belt drive to the wheels via front and rear differentials making these cars extremely fast with speeds of up to 100 km/h. The cars have full adjustable suspension and run of foam tyres.

1:8th Scale Nitro
Possibly the most thrilling of the on-road nitro cars is the 1:8th scale which utilises the aerodynamic forces of a Lola style body shell to generate down force allowing these cars to reach speeds of 120 km/h and high cornering speeds. The 1:8th scale nitro cars are powered by highly tuned 3.5cc engines and like the 1:10th scale nitro cars they also feature 2 speed gearboxes, differentials and belt drive systems.

 1:8th GT Nitro
The 1:8th GT class is a relatively new class of racing. These cars use a 2 speed four wheel shaft drive system and run on rubber tyres. Cars are available as RTR or build up kits. The 1:8th GT’s compete as a sanctioned class alongside the 1:10th tourers and 1:8th scale nitro cars.

1:5th Scale Sedans
The closest thing to real size car racing is the 1:5th scale cars. These cars feature modified 23cc 2 stroke engines and are rear wheel drive. They utilise disc brakes which are either hydraulically or cable operated. They have all the adjustments of a full size race car and run of rubber tyres.

1:5th Scale F1
The closest thing to real size RC F1 racing is the 1:5th scale cars. These cars just like the Sedans feature modified 23cc or a 26cc 2 stroke engine and are rear wheel drive. They utilise disc brakes which are either hydraulically or cable operated. They have all the adjustments of a full size race car but have incredible aerodynamics allowing the F1 to corner better at speed.

1:10 Scale 200mm Electric Powered (EP)
These cars are fast and All wheel drive, Classes run when organised are the 21.5T Stock (Blinky), 13.5T Stock (Blinky) & 4.5T Mod, these numbers are the motor turn sizes. They run a ROAR 7.4V 2S2P90c 5000mA – 75000mA battery, run time varies due to the gear setup (FDR – Final Drive Rollout) from 7minutes to 20minutes. Heats are usually 5-7minutes races.(Blinky definition, default setting on ESC that make the button blink).
